Tips for Working from Home

1. Dress for success

Although the thought of rolling out of bed and going about your business may seem tempting, fight the urge to stay in your sweats all day. If you’re too cozy, it could start to reflect in your attitude and result in a lackadaisical at-home work ethic. Showering, putting on clothes, brushing your hair, and even applying a little bit of makeup (if you usually wear it) can help give you a confidence boost, lift your mood, and improve alertness.

2. Get your space in order

If you’re working from home now, you may find productivity to be a bit more challenging these days. If you can, try to designate a specific part of your home to your workspace, preferable one that can be blocked off by a door. Take the time to declutter, organize, clean, and set up a space that breeds productivity, away from the TV or other distractions.

Segregating your workstation will not only help you stay focused, but it also helps you to unplug after business hours. This makes your work time and personal time a little more distinct, as much as it can be while staying home every day.

3. Eat well

It’s easy to fall into the traps of frozen pizza and junk food right now. But what you put into your body can be one of your best defenses to fight off illnesses and fatigue. Not only does eating a fresh diet help you maintain a healthy weight and feel better overall, but it also supports healthy brain functioning and mental health. Not to mention, cooking is a natural stress reliever and can help you decompress after a day of work.

Here are ten powerful immune system boosting foods to incorporate into your diet:

  1. Spinach
  2. Yogurt
  3. Broccoli
  4. Almonds
  5. Red bell peppers
  6. Green Tea
  7. Garlic
  8. Ginger
  9. Shellfish (lobster, clams, mussels, crab, etc.)
  10. Citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemons, oranges, tangerines, limes, etc.)

4. Talk it out

This season filled with uncertainty can be very isolating for some people. Keep in touch with co-workers you’d usually chat with at the office, and reach out to your loved ones by calling, video chatting, or texting them. Communicating with others will help you maintain a positive outlook, and a simple message can go a long way with someone who’s been cooped up alone.

5. Show grace
